October around North Lake Tahoe in photos

Needless to say, October is a beautiful, yet interesting month in North Lake Tahoe. It's a bit too chilly for laying out at the lake, yet a bit too warm for Mother Nature to drop ample amounts of snow on the mountaintops. But believe me, that's a good thing, since there really isn't a bad month at Lake Tahoe. Where October really shines, however, is in the hiking, biking and lack of crowds.

October in Lake Tahoe means regular precipitation, which in turn creates amazing trail conditions. Moist conditions like this reduces the amount of dusty trails and creates tacky, fast rolling dirt for mountain biking. That in turn is great for hiking, too. Furthermore, October storms often means windy conditions that make for surfable waves (Looking to get barreled?).

Not only does October provide us with desirable trail conditions, but it's one of the best times of the year to capture photos that will make your Instagram followers jealous. Winter may bring us chin-deep powder day ski photos, and summer may bring us white sandy beach Lake Tahoe photos, but fall provides us with the sights of changing seasons. From early morning snow dustings to cotton-candy cloud sunsets, the photo opportunities are endless. So without any further ado, here are some of our favorite North Lake Tahoe Instagram photos of October 2016. Enjoy!

Paul, a Southern California transplant now Truckee Local, is an occasional writer, blogger, photographer and full time adventurer. From glassy waves of the Los Angeles-South Bay to manicured mountain bike trails of Whistler B.C., Paul is always on the search for the best of what nature has to offer. The sub-culture stories of snow, dirt and waves are what Paul enjoys capturing and wants to share with others. When he’s not chasing snow or biking in Truckee/Tahoe, you can find him shoveling (hopefully feet) of snow or tinkering around in the garage.
