The tradition of après-ski is nearly as important (and for many, just as important) as skiing itself. And people celebrate the tradition differently, from a brewski in the hot tub to a shotski in a dive with friends to a Bloody Mary on your balcony to hot cocoa and s'mores around a fire pit. And that tradition couldn't be any more important than in Lake Tahoe, where at Northstar California, après-ski is taken very seriously. Just how seriously? Well see Northstar California by the numbers below, where we share five different ways you can après-ski in North Lake Tahoe.
80,000...delectable, fresh s'mores handed out every season in the Village at Northstar. Now that's a heckuva lot of s'mores! S’mores kits are sold all day, every day at the Cabana Bar, or arrive at 3:30 p.m. for hard-earned complimentary s’mores after a day on the slopes. Additionally, at mid-mountain is The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe, where you can enjoy complimentary s'mores daily at 4:30 from their resident Marshmologist (that's totally a thing).
15,000...complimentary glasses of champagne enjoyed every winter at Northstar’s signature tōst event. Champagne glasses are clinked together every afternoon at 2 p.m. sharp while overlooking Lake Tahoe on the East Ridge Trail (Blue), while sparkling cider is available for the younger ones. New this year to Northstar California is Platinum tōst, an elevated Lake Tahoe après-ski event featuring a VIP seating section with fire pits, a charcuterie basket, and upgraded bottle of champagne. This isn't an après-ski experience you can have just anywhere.
4,000…pairs of skates rented every winter at the ice skating rink in the Village. The ice skating rink in the Village at Northstar is basecamp for all things après-ski, from great restaurants surrounding the rink to fire pits lining the outside of the rink to the Cabana Bar, which is your après-ski fueling station. In between après-skiing, rent a pair of skates and do a few laps before kicking your feet up by a fire pit with a s'mores in one hand and hot chocolate in another.
1,000…Dirty Snowman adult hot chocolates served every weekend at the Cabana Bar. While not quite as classic and internationally-recognized as Frosty, the Snowman, Northstar's signature drink, the Dirty Snowman, is a local classic in its own right. Kick back with Northstar’s classic hot chocolate with a kick, featuring hot cocoa combined with vanilla-infused vodka, Irish cream, and hazelnut liqueur. We're warming up just thinking about it.
3...nights of live music in the Village every weekend. Northstar has you covered with ice skate, snowshoe, and ski boot rentals, but you'll have to bring your own dancing shoes (BYODS). Musicians keep the good après-ski times rolling every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoons when they take to the stage with live music. Grab a s'mores kit and Dirty Snowman, find a seat (or dancing partner), and stick around for a little while.
