The Weekend Drop: Thanksgiving Edition

Winter is coming, and more importantly, even sooner, ski season at Northstar California is coming. However, with temperatures this week feeling more like spring skiing, Northstar California is still days away from opening the mountain and will announce their new Opening Day on Mon, Nov 27th. Pray for snow!

Nonetheless, it’s Thanksgiving Weekend, and a time for thanks and celebration. So we’re opening the Village this weekend to celebrate the beginning of Lake Tahoe ski season.

Festivities will be happening throughout Thanksgiving weekend, beginning Friday with the Pass Holder Pub Crawl, taking places from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Village. For $10 ($20 for non-pass holders), guests receive 5 tasting tickets for a selection of drinks and dining offers in the Village. Season pass holders will also be entered into a raffle, which will be held on the Village Stage at 7 p.m.

The party continues on Saturday, celebrating Vail’s newest ski resort, Whistler Blackcomb, with the premiere of Magnetic, the first full-length, ski and snowboard movie filmed entirely within a single ski area (Whistler Blackcomb). The premiere is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday at TC’s Pub, and is free for pass holders and $5 for non-pass holders. (See the trailer below.)

What’s more, the Village will be hoppin’ throughout the weekend. Pick up ice skating rentals at the ice rink, grab a hot toddy to sit fireside at the Cabana Bars, catch happy hour at Tavern 6330’, make a reservation at Yamakai Fish & Sushi Co, and enjoy live music on the main stage of the ice rink all weekend long.

Meanwhile, a new Lake Tahoe ski season at Northstar means new perks, food and drinks, and exclusive events. Northstar’s executive chef, Chef Steve Anderson, recently shared what’s new in dining around Northstar, while below we’ve included a few upcoming events. Otherwise, subscribe to the Tahoe Ascent Weekly, to get events, conditions, and the latest articles in your inbox every Friday morning.
