The Weekend Drop: March 2 Edition

Another snow-filled week for a winter that's been one for the books! It was a great ending to Ski and Skate Week, which brought a snow storm, cool temperatures, and even a few sunny days. Conditions have been amazing, which look to continue into the weekend. We couldn’t ask for a better winter.

The week topped off February with a total of 189 inches of snowfall.

After the storms cleared Monday morning, Northstar California was left with about a foot of champagne powder. Temperatures have stayed cool throughout the week, preserving stashes and giving our grooming team the best medium to express their art. Looking into the weekend we can expect blue skies leading into a nice snow storm. The storm is expected to taper off Monday, estimated at leaving us with a forecasted two feet of fresh powder.

This past week, however, found me taking some time to explore our terrain parks. On Monday I took a lap up Vista Express, down Moonshine Terrain Park, and into Pinball Park before finishing down Pipeline. The terrain parks team did an amazing job turning a foot of powder into perfectly groomed features overnight. Since the season has produced so much snow, Pipeline currently boasts three amazing features, a halfpipe, minipipe (parallel to the full pipe), and a huge quarterpipe to finish the run.

Craig, a Northern California native, is an action sports junkie, having grown up around race cars and dirt bikes, which in turn sparked an interest in all things extreme. In the winter he can be found on the slopes, exploring fresh powder stashes, and in the summer, ripping through the Nevada desert. With a recent Business Marketing degree from the University of Nevada, Reno, he plans to blur the line between work and play. In the office he can be found listening to marketing influencers while reporting the snow conditions or editing photos at Northstar California.
