The Weekend Drop: March 23 Edition

Not so fast spring. The calendar may have turned from winter to spring, but Mother Nature had more snow in store for Lake Tahoe, dropping some huge snowflakes earlier this week. The last couple of days have seen 15 inches of snow, while there’s more snow in the forecast off and on over the next week. That bodes well for an extended season that goes through April 23rd this year.

It was a big week at Northstar California across the board. It began with the last of Northstar’s Mountain Table Dinner Series of the year. Happening a few times a winter, the dinner is one of the ski resort’s premier events, pairing a great winery with Northstar’s great chefs for a five-course dinner atop the mountain at Zephyr Lodge. You can read all about this year’s series here.

While the first day of spring dropped earlier this week, it was then followed immediately by snowfall the last couple of days, bringing Northstar’s total for the year to 622 inches. Needless to say, it’s shaping up to be a great spring skiing season.

Need a change of scenery or want to skip the gondola line on your next day at Northstar? Then keep walking past the Big Springs Gondola to the Village Express lift, which actually drops guests off higher up the mountain at Logger’s Loop (Blue). Here you can do a quick warm-up run before catching one of the mid-mountain lifts up the mountain. It comes in handy on those busy weekend days.

Following more fresh snow this week, conditions should be primetime this weekend as we go into the final month of the ski season. Where did the season go? JanuBURIED seems just like yesterday. Nonetheless, there’s some great skiing to be had, as well as a number of events in the coming weeks, which you can discover below.  See you on the slopes!
