And the snow just keeps coming! This past week saw a recent storm system bring 16 inches of fresh snow to the mountain, creating perfect conditions for some late-season powder days. As this season draws to a close, sunny days are becoming more abundant but there's a lot of great skiing still to be had.
I spent the last few days lapping Tahoe Zephyr Express, where I enjoyed some of the best corduroy Lake Tahoe has to offer. Northstar's grooming team has been working harder than ever to deliver an average of 73 groomed runs each day. On Saturday, the season record was met with 75 pristine trails. Add those numbers to the recent snow totals and you get perfect conditions for every style of skiing or snowboarding. Check out the video below, which takes you on a little behind-the-scenes tour of Northstar Mountain Operations.
While the past week brought sunshine and snow, the immediate forecast looks more like those token spring skiing days in Lake Tahoe. According to the National Weather Service, snow showers are likely today and tonight before we move into a clear window with several days of sunshine. This weekend should be beautiful with light winds and high temperatures in the 40s and 50s.
As the end of this epic season approaches, there are plenty of exciting springtime events to look forward to. Make sure to follow @NorthstarMtn on Twitter for the most current information regarding mountain operations, traffic updates, and special events. We'll see you on the hill!
