Another incredible week is in the books at Northstar California, characterized by a week of both sun and snow. After several sunny days last weekend, the beginning of the week brought another 46 inches of snow to the summit! The powder days were epic, but the sun has returned to bestow some much needed vitamin D upon Truckee and Lake Tahoe.
Last week's warm temperatures did wonders to relieve some mid-season blues and generate excitement for the spring season. For me, the only thing that beats a beautiful spring day is incredible powder. Luckily, we were treated to both. Sunday and Monday proved to be two of the best powder days of the season, with fluffy, fresh snow perfect for skiers and riders of all skill levels to enjoy. I spent the majority of Monday morning on waist-deep powder runs in the Northwest Territory and Lookout Mountain. Sugar Pine Glade (Black) was incredible, featuring head-high powder turns through the trees.
As the week continued, the skies cleared and the grooming team was able to produce some amazing surfaces. I took full advantage of Wednesday's mild temperatures by lapping Burnout (Black) on the Backside and Pioneer (Blue) in the Northwest Territory. If you missed out on the epic conditions this week, don't worry because the sunshine is here to stay for a while.
Looking ahead, the National Weather Service is predicting mostly clear skies and warm temperatures for the next ten days. The highs will be in the 50s with lows in the 30s and light winds.
Naturally, sunny skies and breathtaking vistas combine perfectly to create the perfect backdrop for photos. Take advantage of the conditions and get your picture taken by the Epic Mix team. The photos upload directly to your mobile app at the end of the day for you to keep. Look out for the photographers in green uniforms, who can typically be found in the Village in the morning and at the top of Comstock Express in the afternoon.
Insider tip: Participate in the Epic Mix team's daily photo challenges!
