Welcome to the final edition of this season's Weekend Drop. It's time to sit back and reflect on the past six months of winter in Lake Tahoe, California. I'm excited to announce that this week Northstar California joined the 700" Club along with a number of other North Lake Tahoe ski resorts. But while snow continued to fall into closing week, Lake Tahoe locals and visitors are eagerly awaiting a much-deserved summer following what's been a record-breaking winter.
The last week brought a great week of spring skiing. On Saturday, Butterbox held its annual Rail Jam at Northstar California. Competitors of all ages threw down on a legendary terrain park course as they battled for bragging rights and awesome prizes. The morning began with a grom competition as riders under the age of 10 showed off their skills in front of a lively crowd. As the afternoon continued, the stoke remained high with tunes from the DJ. Check out some of the photos from the Rail Jam and the past week of snow below.
The final ski weekend at Northstar should bring with it prime spring skiing conditions. The National Weather Service is calling for highs in the 50s and mostly sunny skies through the weekend. Perfect conditions for Closing Day! You can view the full mountain and terrain report here. Meanwhile, there's still time to get your Epic Season Pass for next year. Purchase before May 29 for two buddy tickets.
- (4/23) April 23rd Closing Day and Pass Holder Appreciation. Join us on Sunday, April 23 at the Lodge at Big Springs from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. for live music and beer specials. Let's clink pint glasses for every friend made on the chairlift, every sip at tōst, and all the miles driven to get your family here through snowstorm after snowstorm. What's more, we want to say thank you by giving away a 2017-18 Tahoe Local Pass along with other prizes worthy of a record-breaking season.
While this weekend wraps up the winter ski season, Northstar will start ramping up for summer, when we hope to see you in the Village or on the hiking and biking trails. Sign up below to get the latest news and events in your inbox. Cheers to a great, record-breaking winter.
