December around Lake Tahoe in photos

With the first of December seeing the opening of many Lake Tahoe ski resorts, including Northstar California, it became obvious that it was going to be a good month around the lake. After all, December is typically the kick-off month for winter around Lake Tahoe, setting the tone for the winter ski season.

And combine the first month of Lake Tahoe ski season with local holiday events, like Christmas parades, Santa appearances, and New Year's Eve fireworks, and it makes for a great month around Lake Tahoe. Locals' Instagram feeds were evidence of that.

As such, check out some of what was going on around Lake Tahoe last month with a few of our favorite images captured in December.

Waiting for more Joyful days like this. 📷 @paulhamillphotos

Colin Lygren

Colin Lygren is a recovering news reporter seeking a new life in a ski town. While he is originally from Sacramento, Tahoe is the place Colin has always called home. He started visiting the region at just a year old and practically grew up on the slopes with his dad and sister. When he is not writing for Tahoe Ascent, Colin is shooting pictures and video or getting up early to make sure he gets fresh tracks, whether it be a groomer day or a powder day. In the summer, Colin likes to relax on the beach by Lake Tahoe’s blue waters or fly fish in the Truckee River.
