The Weekend Drop: Feb 1 Edition

If there is ever a weekend and there ever is a place to explore the far reaches of your palate, it is this weekend at Northstar California Resort.  From a ski-up champagne and raw seafood bar, to a thoughtfully prepared wine and food pairing dinner, this weekend has everything necessary to keep your mouth watering.

The Mountain Table Dinner series is adventure dining at its finest.  Your evening starts in the Village where you hop on the Big Springs Gondola and head up to mid-mountain.  From there you take the Zephyr Express Gondola to the Zephyr Lodge which sits at 7910'.  This Friday's Mountain Table Dinner will feature wines from The Prisoner Wine Company of Rutherford, CA (their wines are fantastic).  If the stunning views from Zephyr Lodge are not enough to pique your interest, the berkshire pork paired with a 2014 Merlot, or the tuna confit paired with a 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon should do the trick.  See full wine + food paring menu here.


On Saturday there are several options to drink Champagne in style.  As you may know, Northstar is known for it's daily Champage tōst at the top of East Ridge.  You can share a tōst with everyone else at 2pm, or show up an hour early and participate in Platinum tōst (reservations required).  Platinum tōst gives you your own bottle of Champagne, a charcuterie board, a personal fire pit and a chair to relax in.


Another chance to imbibe happens every afternoon at The Backyard at the Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe.  The Après-Ski Experience brings together Moët Champagne and a raw bar in a picturesque setting.  Enjoy a chilled shrimp cocktail, oysters on the half shell or ceviche.

Didn't get enough Champagne Saturday afternoon?  There are more offerings Sunday morning!  The Champagne Brunch at the Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe offers everything from chilled seafood to a carving station, salads and a charcuterie station.  This brunch surprises and delights at every turn.  If you do not like Champagne, no problem.  The brunch also includes an unlimited Bloody Mary bar.  Brunch is served at Manzanita inside the Ritz-Carlton from noon to 2:30pm.  The late start will allow you to build up an appetite while getting plenty of morning ski runs in.
