It's hard to believe we’re mere days from the beginning of spring, especially with the string of recent snowstorms that make it feel like winter is just getting started. However, that just means that spring skiing will be that much better. So with the forthcoming St. Patrick’s Day weekend, followed by the first day of spring next week, we’re coming to you with a spring-themed Weekend Drop with current conditions and upcoming events.
Miracle March certainly earned its name in the first few days of the month, with Mother Nature bringing several feet of fresh snowfall to Lake Tahoe over the first weekend of March. Northstar California alone saw nearly five feet of snow in just three days. Hello, fresh powder days!
And snowfall has continued on into this week, with Lake Tahoe seeing more than two feet of snow with the current system (and it’s still coming down!). Snow is forecasted into the weekend, making for some of the best ski conditions around Lake Tahoe all winter. The coming days should make for the perfect conditions of fluffy powder and powdered groomers. It couldn't come at a more perfect time, with events like the Platinum First Tracks series this Sunday, and spring skiing on the horizon. See a few of the recent photos below.
Meanwhile, check out some of the upcoming events happening this weekend and beyond.
- Platinum First Tracks. Platinum First Tracks is Northstar’s unique take on a fresh tracks experience for skiers and snowboarders to Lake Tahoe. Guests can access Northstar’s mountain a full hour before it’s open to the public, and do so with a guide to maximize their time. After an hour and a half of getting those fresh tracks, guests break for a gourmet breakfast with their guide at Zephyr Lodge. More info and reservations can be made on Northstar’s website.
- Spring It On. Spring It On is Northstar California's premier spring event, featuring four weeks of festivities, including S'moresapalooza, Epic Day, Easter Eggstravaganza, Pass Holder Party (with music by The Peelers), and Pass Holder Taco Tour. The series of festivities kicks off with S'moresapalooza this Saturday and continues through Sunday, April 8.
- Alibi Truckee St. Patrick's Day Par-Tay. St. Patrick’s Day party this Saturday at Alibi Ale Works in Truckee, starting at noon, and featuring once-a-year Dry Irish Stout on nitro and live Irish music starting at 6:30 p.m.
- Easter Champagne Brunch. Enjoy an elevated Easter Champagne Brunch, mid-mountain, at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe's signature restaurant, Manzanita. Advance reservations are recommended.
